Frankly, it's hard to become a world class center for R&D if you're not a contributing member of the community, so to ensure that we never forgot where we came from we put at the core of our charter, our commitment to being a great partner to the local tech ecosystem.
One of the first organizations we met during those early days was MITX who were introduced to us as "a tireless group of people always looking to raise the bar for the rest of the digital community." In that first meeting, we asked MITX what NERD could do to help the digital ecosystem. In great haste Kiki and team sent over our marching orders of where we could partner and make a significant impact for the local community.
Fast forward two years. We've opened our doors to the community and gave it a rallying point, and most importantly -- we've seen the value that partnerships with great organizations such as MITX can have for have for everyone. MITX has taken a key role in leading the digital and marketing communities, driving hundreds of great programs aimed at helping the industry grow, taking aim at key issues such as workforce retention, and helping to nurture the next generation of leaders with the MITX Future Leaders Group. We see no signs of MITX slowing down, and of course, Kiki and her team have added numerous items to our to-do list over the past year - but that's what we expect tireless champions of the ecosystem to-do.
Today, we're thrilled to announce that we are expanding NERD and further deepening our community roots. We are leasing and renovating 113,000 sq. ft. of office space at One Cambridge Center in the heart of Kendall Square in order to accommodate our growing R&D presence. This expansion represents our continued commitment to and investment in the greater Boston technology ecosystem. You can learn more about our expansion by visiting our NERD blog.
The digital community is lucky to have an organization as dedicated and impactful as MITX. At NERD we are a proud partner and ready to roll up our sleeves and tackle more items on the to-do list. The next leg of our journey awaits us!
