1. How was HB founded and what inspired its creation?

Working for other agencies, Nicolas Boillot and KevinHart became frustrated with the fear of multidisciplinary approaches and low emphasis on customerservice. They believed they could do better and make the experience transparent, fun and winning for all parties.
They created an agency that effectively integrated the major marketing disciplines to deliver high-performing campaigns. Other agencies that claimed to do this suffered from gaping holes in their knowledge base or lack of methodology and discipline. HB built a crackerjack team with widely varied backgrounds committed to ensure big-agency knowledge and capabilities with small-agency customer service.

2.  What makes HB different than other companies in your space?

Integration and discipline. We know of no other agency our size that offers the range of skills and experience that HB provides under one roof and the discipline to bring all of them to bear on every marketing challenge. This translates into two frequent experiences for HB clients:

  • Pivot points: where we are able to show that taking a different tact will more effectively accomplish a marketing objective;
  • Reliably high ROI: we reach higher-than-average returns on nearly all our initiatives.

3. What has been HB's greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months?

We have focused our practices onto three key markets where we have long and deep experience: clean-tech, high-tech and medical technology. In addition, we invested heavily in our PR department and our Business Development department, making five key hires in these areas in the last 12 months. The result is broader national awareness of HB within our core industries, an increased flow of business opportunities, and more inquiries from prospects that understand the need for an integrated, measurable marketing program. In addition, in 2012 we were selected to join the IPREX Global Agency Network and we created The Disruptors video series, focused on the minds behind some of medical technology's most disruptive innovations.

4. What is the biggest challenge you face in the marketplace today?

Finding new talent – we have rigorous standards and have benefitted from very low turnover. Our team is smart, hard-working, highly creative, and committed to creating a blameless, excuseless environment… we look for the same in new talent, and such people are few and far between.

5. Why are you a MITX member?

It’s been our experience that MITX is filled with cool people and smart companies. This is the kind of company we want to keep.
