MITX & the Stay Here Initiative – Fall 2010

Posted by Kiki Mills on Wed, Aug 4, 2010

I serve on the Advisory Council for the Massachusetts It's all here Initiative, which is a public-private partnership created to more effectively market the state of Massachusetts. I'm really excited for their fall campaign geared towards students - The Stay here Initative.

Massachusetts: It's all hereThis particular initiative focuses on retaining young talent by connecting students and recent graduates with the resources they need to build a future in Massachusetts.

At MITX, we've been focused on exactly that -- working with local colleges and students, to educate them on the opportunities in this ever evolving industry while also connecting them with local companies in the Internet business and marketing industry who are hiring.

That's why we launched My First Big Gig, an on line resource for students to learn about and connect with companies and job opportunities. We've also opened up membership to students, waiving their fee (read: free) to make it easier to connect with people in our industry, while also learning more about the cutting edge trends and technologies available to marketers today.

The Stay here Initative has two main goals:

  • Ensure that every student knows we want them to stay here in Massachusetts
  • Make certain that each student knows where to find the resources and opportunities they need to build a life here

This fall we'll be working with Massachusetts: It's all here, to help publish weekly lists of companies hiring in Massachusetts, to expand our grassroots efforts with the Stay here Ambassadors to highlight our ecosystem, and to support partners across the commonwealth who've signed on to get the word out that you need go no further -- you're already in the best place on earth.

Partners include:, Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce/Federal Reserve Bank of Boston Partnership, Propel Careers, Stay in MA, Onein3 Boston, the Mass Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) Student website, and One Mighty Roar.

We'd love your feedback on how we're doing and invite you to learn more and get involved any way you can.  If you've got jobs, login and post them on our website. If you'd like to get involved with our outreach to schools, let us know by writing or by commenting here.

Thank you for helping make this community such a vibrant place to live.
