Posted by Gena Folts on Mon, May 17, 2010

LineSider Technologies, founded in 2005 and headquartered in Danvers, MA, was recently announced as a finalist in the 2010 MITX Technology Awards Cloud Computing category! This well-deserving finalist took some time from their schedule to share with us a little about their company and their product, as well as their feelings about making it to the final round!

1. How do you feel about being named a finalist in the 2010 Tech Awards?

"We're very pleased to be named a finalist for the prestigious MITX Technology awards," said Harley Stowell, CEO and President at LineSider Technologies. "OverDrive addresses a very significant challenge in both private and public cloud computing environments. Every time an application, computer or storage resource changes in the virtual datacenter, there needs to be some type of manual intervention to provision network services or repair broken security and access models. This has become one of the biggest challenges facing large virtual computing deployments today. OverDrive fixes this problem and saves an enormous amount of operational time spent on creating and modifying network connectivity and maintaining security to support virtual applications. This is especially true for companies with very fluid computing environments where virtual devices are being added, moved or changed regularly between physical locations or network segments."

2. If you could describe your innovation in one succinct sentence, how would you describe yourself?

LineSider automatically virtualizes network services so the network becomes fluid and responsive to changes in today's computing environments.

3. What makes your company different from other companies in your market space?

LineSider launched the industry's first and only network services virtualization platform and takes a holistic network approach to cloud computing. OverDrive is the only technology in the industry today that can do complete end-to-end automation and orchestration of cloud services -- compute, storage and most importantly - network, without having to rely on scripts and templates which are not scalable for highly virtual and cloud environments

4. What has been your company's greatest accomplishment in the past year?

LineSider's greatest accomplishment is launching OverDrive and deploying it in a full production service provider network in EMC's Atmos Cloud Computing environment.

5. What is your greatest asset?

LineSider's greatest assets are their people resources and their patent-pending technology.
